Our new Counter Storage Trays are specifically designed for efficiently organizing wargame counters, making it easier than ever to find the exact piece you need. After eight months of development and testing, we created a shallow, space-efficient tray system that keeps counters perfectly sorted—without stacking them on top of each other.

Unlike traditional trays, these are designed to prevent counter movement inside the box, even when transporting your game.

These trays are fully compatible with each other, allowing you to mix and match them based on your game’s needs.

Usability & Storage Comparison

To maximize storage efficiency, we designed extra-slim corners while ensuring each tray provides ample space for counters.

While the total capacity remains the same, the new system ensures counters stay perfectly sorted, improving gameplay and setup time.

Closing System – Secure & Stackable

One of the biggest challenges in designing these trays was finding the perfect closing system. Since secure closure is a key feature of our products, we tested various ideas like magnets, pins, and large lids, but all were either too expensive or impractical.

Final Solution:

• Stack trays together and use an extra tray as the lid
• Secure the stack with X-Bands

We even added small indentations for the bands, so they don’t take up any extra space inside the game box. Thanks to this system, the trays fit perfectly inside GMT boxes and can be easily removed.

Antistatic Solution – Preventing Sticking Counters

Most counters are ~1.5mm thick, so we designed 2mm deep row compartments, leaving only 0.5mm of free space. This should, in theory, prevent counters from sticking to the tray above due to electrostatic charge.

However, during testing, we found that storing trays inside plastic bags or in low humidity environments could cause slight magnetization, making counters stick to the tray above when opened.

Final Solution:
Antistatic brushes! After testing various solutions, we found that these work perfectly. While most users won’t need them, we have added them to our shop for those who want extra protection.

Another solution we tested is Antistatik 100 (by Kontakt Chemie) – a special antistatic spray for plastics. It works great, but it is much more expensive (around $15), and you probably won’t need it.

Which Games Work Best?

These trays are perfect for any game that requires quickly accessing specific counters for gameplay or scenario setup.

Sorting options vary by game:
✔ By Faction & Type – Ideal for games like World in Flames, keeping each nation’s forces separate.
✔ By Game Phase – Useful for scenario-based games like Monty’s Gamble: Market-Garden, where counters are retrieved by phase.

At first, sorting might seem time-consuming, but once done, your game will always be ready to play!
